At new job 4 days, caught a COLD!

Hee hee hee, this is kind of funny. Been at my new job for 4 days and I caught a cold from a co-worker. I haven't been sick since I lost my job last year!

Oh well, it's ok....I'd rather be getting a paycheck and spending a few bucks on Tylenol Cold Formula than sitting home healthy as a horse.

Being back at work is good. I knew this was not my dream job but the benefits are way better than at my old company. I'll have BC/BC PPO for me and the kids at a $220 per month out-of-pocket cost, including dental PPO and vision care. This cost me $780 at my old place for UHC which is not good in my area.

At least you are working in a daycare - LOL can you imagine the germs in one of those???

PS: I was a daycare center director for many years so I know from experience!

My experience with UHC is so different. United Healthcare for railroad employees is UBER awesome.

As of 01/01/11, we were allowed to put our 'adult' children (under 26) on our coverage thanks to Obamacare. 78 days after this went into effect, my son was in a horrific ATV accident where his pancreas was split into 2 pieces. His more than $500,000 surgery bill, ICU/hospital bill, rehab, physical therapy and prescriptions were covered by UHC. Our out of pocket expense for this almost 3/4 of a million dollar total bill? Under $500.

It makes me sad that others don't have a similar experience with them. I had 2 unexpected surgeries due to a fall in our home and only owed the $50.00 ER copay both times.

            Feel better again for Annie!!

(Sorry, but I had to share UHC's flip side of coverage as I can't be anything but eternally grateful that we had their coverage.)

Good point ValleyYum - it depends on the employer/plan sponsor what their coverage is...especially if it's self-insured, which for a railroad it would be.

I do work at a Pre school. I use a Neti pot 3 times a day. I haven't been sick in almost 4 months now since I have been using it.

The first week or two was kinda ruff when I started using it. All the "evil" stuff was coming out of my nose. Now though I really do not get any drainage after I use the Neti pot.
My doctor recommended I use it 3 times a day because I stayed sick from the preschool. I have seen a major difference. Even if I have felt like I was going to get sick nothing happens. I don't know what makes it work so well, but it does.

It takes all the 'bad' from your system and flushes it out.

As for Annie - I know, every time I start a new job it seems like I get sick. I personaly think it's because we are forced to work in sick buildings with recycled air, which only recycles the germs. I could be wrong but...

Once your immune system kicks in it should take care of the new germs but until then, take Pandora's advice. And get better soon!!

Hope ya feel better soon!! Know this will sound crazy but if you can get it down, it really truly does work. Mix one tablespoon butter and one of sugar, swallow it down. SOOOOOOOOO gross, but if ya can get it down, it works by the next day. Honest, saw it numerous times with a gal I worked with, worked every time. I could never get it down but she always used it for colds and never had one more than a day. I worked with her for 25 years and I swear it's the truth.

                        Go figure......LOL>
