So my Chapter 7 case just got discharged and my lawyer said I can get rid of all of those old credit card statements that have piled up.
But what about tax records? I've heard about the three year rule and I would love to get rid of EVERYTHING that dates prior to that.
Copies of mortgages and home equity loans?
My old rental property (I also lived in it -- it was a big house) went to foreclosure last year. I have nothing to do with the property anymore so that means once my lawyer finishes vacating the lien in a couple of months --- can I get rid of all my mortgage papers too?
Would love to hear thoughts on what other people are doing with this stuff.
