Another savings is putting your cable, internet, and phone all with one company under a package deal.............saves money..... plus you get unlimited internet (fast), unlimited long distance calls, extra programing on cable, etc.

This is something that I have just done recently..... really makes a difference too..... lots of savings on long distance calls..... and all three bills are paid together...... taxed only once, one stamp or online payment, convenient. Your bill never increases unless you are a "pay per view" cable person for movies, sports, etc.

I always have the lowest heating bills out of all my friends from doing the same kind of thing as Minny. I leave my thermostat between 60-65 except for the short time between coming home from work and going to bed and then I only turn it between 65-70 We were warmer clothes in the winter anyway so we are comfortable and I love snuggling up with the kids under a quilt watching a movie.
I'm also changing all my lightbulbs to the new compact flourescents. I'm doing it bit by bit as the old ones burn out so there's no major upfront cost.
I'm going to try the water heater idea too.
