I am in Florida, but I think our situations are similar. You are supposed to 'report your earnings--even if you haven't haven't been paid yet'.
In my case, I work for a college, and we get paid by the month. Because this is an established institution, and I have an established 'job history' with them, I have to report my earnings.
You are talking about starting a business, where nothing is guaranteed. You may get paid something one month and nothing the next month. Your business may totally flop--I hope otherwise for you. But, if I were you, I would just keep your mouth shut, and keep claiming your weeks.
You will have to record 'job contacts' and send them in, to be able to qualify. Keep looking online for any openings in your field. Also, any random contacts with friends / neighbors about proposing a *whatever* business, or small business seminar, or job fair, you may attend, will qualify.
Good luck to you.
