The folks above now show up on the chapter 13 information I get from my trustee. Are they all just buyers of debt and hoping I will default so they can then file suits? I've seen some bad complaints about their tactics. Do they try and come after you after BK is discharged hoping to get something or once they get notice of discharge, do they go away? (21 mos to go!!)

I know ecast settlement buys debt. They bought my Capital One and Bank of America debt after I filed. East Bay Funding probably does too. Just because they filed claims in your Chap 13 doesn't mean they plan to avoid the permanent injunction once you are discharged. They are hoping to get a part of their debts paid during the plan. Even if your plan anticipates paying 0% to unsecured creditors, it is always possible that could change if you have an increase in income. They also want to get notice if your case gets dismissed so that they can start collection actions. If they don't go away after discharge, it usually only takes one letter with a copy of your order for discharge to make them go away. If that doesn't work, you can sue them for violation of the permenant injunction against attempts to collect a discharged debt.LadyInTheRed is in the black!
Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!
