Bankruptcy & Divorce

Just found this forum and like it a lot.

Recently decided to separate from my spouse of 9 years. After looking at the current financial situation (that i've been trying to ignore) i've come to the conclusion that bankruptcy is our only answer. Bankruptcy before the divorce would be cheaper and make the divorce easier because we wouldn't need to split up any of the bills.

One of my concerns is that we both have relatively new leased vehicles (wow thanks Honda) and each car is only in one name. Will we be able to reaffirm both or have to give one up?

I don't know enough to risk answering this question, but I find it interesting that leased vehicles aren't OWNED vehicles so they aren' t an asset. At the same time, the are certainly an expense. Therefore, for people planning BK...seems like the perfect match!

But again, I know squat, so I'll be interested in hearing from those who know a lot!
