Cost of Filing with Attorney In FL

My husband met with an attorney this morning (I'm home sick and with my sick child too). He liked the attorney, but she told him it would be $3,000 and most likely a chapter 13 filing for us. Possibly a 7 (which is what we really want), but not sure at this point. She also thought she could get it worked in my daughter's school tuition (based on religion) and my longstanding medical allowances. So maybe in the long run, she is worth the money.

Called another attorney only to have the girl dismiss me once she found out we made more than $5000 per month - apparently they only do Chapter 7 filings

What do others typically pay for filings?

Chapter 7s in FL are usually around $1500. 13s are much more expensive. 5K a month is a lot of money and unless you have unusual circumstances, you may be 13 bound. 'Hub

Thanks. I know $5000 sounds like alot of money, but after deductions (taxes and medical), it isn't. Our mortgage(s), taxes and insurance are @$2600 per month. We are drowning!

Typically does Chapter 13 require your lawyer's involvement beyond the filing?
