teerx79 - I am so sorry things are going badly and seem so complicated...hopefully you're not serious about taking that plunge...
As I keep saying to myself and husband -things WILL get better because they HAVE TO!!!

I filed in May and hope for discharge in Sept. I had 2 zero balance cards with limits of $15,000 each. One was reduced to $1600 and the other to $500 after I filed. They were not closed. One is Citibank the other Chase and I have cards from both banks listed in my BK. I don't intend to use these open cards but wanted to convey this information to Debbie42. Also, I had a Chevron card for 25 years which I had seldom used and it had a zero balance. They canceled it.

After discharge, your BK is effectively finished. After discharge, if you feel compelled to use a credit card, you can. But I concur, the incremental benefit of doing so is minor. Time, more than anything else will heal your credit.

Realize, the cards will probably be closed. In this credit climate, we are not really seeing zero balance cards survive BK. Don't worry, you will start getting credit card offers in 3-6 months.

It does amaze me...(sidetrack), when times are good, I am willing to bet you never even thought about your credit, now that you have filed BK, suddenly credit is importantl...talk about misplaced priorities.

Teerx, Please do not even state this. I lost two classmates from Clearwater High off that bridge. We have a friend who did survive. She would have been better off not to have.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. We have all entertained this idea. It is a very selfish way to solve a personal problem as it leaves those behind under distress and hate for the subject who was stupid enough to follow through. It is a cowards way.

Strength is overcoming the situation, and you have started this and are among friends who will aid you in success as well as pain. GBWY 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
