About the insurance. It's quite common for people to cancel the insurance on a financed car or truck. And as long as it's not being driven that's fine.
The collateral itself will be insured immediately by the lender with insurance that protects their interest, not yours as far as damage and such go.
They will charge this to your account which you are not paying anyway.
So what?
And I never heard of a repo many giving a receipt for a car or truck. And my father was in the car business for over 40 years and ordered lots of them picked up over the years. Most were just taken when the owner was not looking.
Just the facts of life.
And as stated, don't drive the car or truck without insurance.
We did receive a receipt from the tow truck driver when we gave up the car. I cancelled my insurance about 2 days later. We had not filed yet, and while I knew that technically I couldn't be sued for any damage to the vehicle once it was no longer in my possession, why create more stress. There's enough to deal with the BK stuff.
I cancelled the insurance on my SUV the minute the keys were put in the sheriff's officer's hand.
I was stupid though and didn't take the license plates off and ended up with a fine at the DMV.
In my state you can cancel the insurance whenever you want, as long as you turn in the plates. That's where my fine came in. I cancelled the insurance and believed the sheriff's department when they said that they turned in the license plates, which they did not.
