    Who is the Worst Creditor?

I hadn't seen this asked yet but I was very curious about this. Just in your own experiences or even if you have heard else where by popular opinion news etc).

Who is the worst creditor? (bank, mortage company)

The one who seems to not "obey the rules", calls you every second, gives you the most ludcrious fees, or done the most outrageous things.

If you have an interesting story about the one you hate the most, feel free to post it.

I put a little poll with options to pick but I don't know all of them so there is also "Other."

Mine #1 is Citibank. They are by far the worst and most evil.

I was paying my b/a cc online. $300/mo. It is the worst online payment system of any I have seen. Anyway, had had cc for well over a year, I know how to schedule a payment.
They called me in January stating I never paid my December payment. What??? I went online and somehow that payment was scheduled for December of 2009.
Then the next payment, I paid what the online statement stated was due, and sure enough get a call I was $20.00 short on my payment.
So, long story short, was hit with all kinds of late fees, etc.
I will never deal with Bank Of America again!!! My apr went up to 30%. I was a great customer. There was no way for me to pay that, thus the bankruptcy.

I remember something very similiar happening to me with BofA...as they have that drop down menu and sometimes you don't realize it is dropping down the months when you are trying to scrool down the page....If they did not work with you after the mishap they deserve to get their ass kicked with the BK!

Hey jojo, I actually had the opposite experience with BoA's online services. I really liked them. Of course, I have only had BoA for a year now and I am BKing the BoA cc I have but compared to Chase - their online services I thought were great. I guess it depends on what you use on there though too. Chase you can't get any E-bills and you can only E-pay. I often paid late many times because it was hard organize my payments through Chase. I had to use Checkfree for my E-bill alerts. I liked all of BoA's alerts and the e-bill service for the most part.

My bf is bad at paying his bills on time and he has BoA cc too and he always pays at the last minute and gets a late fee. His own fault really but I noticed that BoA is really all over you with those late fees. I never got one from them. But at least they and Chase are honoring my stay since I have filed. Citibank on the other hand is not...Wait...I think they are calling me right now...grrr!

How about "all of the above?" lol!..I think I get one to quit calling and another one begins. Today my husband got a letter from Lowe's saying that his mailing address was changed and to call them if this was an error. They were trying to get him to call to discuss being late on a payment I'm sure and not for an address change. Also, Lowes has many numbers they try to call you with just to see if you think it's not them. For us, Lowes is the worst followed by Wells Fargo. Bank of America is trying scare tactics more than the others and we're not biting. We are planning on filing May 28th.

Wells Fargo (our opinion). They would call 4 to 6 times per week. Ask the same questions every time.

I asked one of the collection callers if they ever read the file notes before they called. She thought I was being very "uncooperative".

I would just tell them "nothing has changed since you called yesterday"

BK filed 4-21-09. 341 scheduled in June.

              I have to say Amex.

I have 2 cards with them. 1 is offering me the chance to settle while the other says Amex will only accept full payment. NCO will setle while United Recovery will not.

              I have cards with:
              BOA - offered 15% settlement
              Citi - offered 30% settlement
Discover- offered 30% settlement a couple of months back
              Amex 1 w/NCO - offered 30% settlement a couple of months back
Amex 2 w/URS - will not settle - claiming it is Amex that refuses

Hey, thanks for all who voted so far. I love the stories. I am glad to see I am not the only person who hates Citibank. But it looks like AMEX is even more evil.

                  Wheres Beneficial?

I definitely think you should add Beneficial to that list! They are the worst company to deal with! We have a mortgage and a personal loan with them. The interest rates are ridiculous and they wouldn't work with us to help us with our mortgage which is one of the reasons we are in this situation! I can't tell you how many things they have messed up with our loans!!!!

Navy Federal Credit Union!! They are the only people who were ever down right mean and rude and made ridiculous demands via telephone. Well now that I think about it.. citifinancial pretty much sucks too they were like "We need a payment today or we're filing a lawsuit" I replied: "Do what you must, because I'm filing bankruptcy." their response: "We already have!" and then she hung up on me. And what's more funny is the sheriff actually showed up at my door that afternoon. What a bunch of losers lol. btw my ch 7 did get filed the next day

I absolutely LOATHE Citibank. They were absolutely horrible when it came to accepting us in a DMP. Every other creditor was immediately fine with it (Chase, Capital One, Discover). I must have talked to three dozen customer service reps, all who told me something different. Can't wait until they start calling when they realize they won't get anymore payments from me (husband just lost job and we'll be declaring Chapter 7 in a few months...)

Citibank and Amex are the worst, and they are both famous for never lending to a customer that bk'd them, ever. They both hold grudges for life. I no longer care. When I see someone whip out an American Express card these days... I think FOOL. I paid those annual fees for so many years just for the status symbol, and I had 4 gold cards. Finally happy to see them go away.

I voted AMEX, but the more I think about it, it was WFFNB. They were extremely rude, aggressive and did not get the point that I was filing. They'd call at least 5-7 times a day, even to the point of harassing my husband. I finally told him not to answer the phone. Somehow they got ahold of his cell number (I'm still not sure how they did that), and left him voicemails to pay my bills.

I think the worst call was when I was told that I should not buy food or pay my electric bill to pay them. Or I can just go naked and return all the clothes I'd bought (over a span of 5 years) back to them. As the rep put it, they were going to get their money, one way or another.

For the person who said Navy Federal... I totally agree with you but I think its all credit unions in general. Everyone says its sooooooo great to have a credit union...and sure, when you're doing well financially, the credit union is right there for you helping you out.

However, if you don't have a perfect credit score and start to have issues they are your worst enemy.

My credit union is Partner's First and they are evil. I applied for a loan once a while back and they wouldn't give me the better rate because my score was off by 1 point...1 POINT! And they wouldn't overlook it. Then another time, I got a car loan with them and was surprised that they told me I had to lower my deductible on my insurance. I had had a car loan with them previously and my 1000 deductible was not an issue. However, it suddenly was... I asked why and they said because my credit score didn't support a 1000 deductible...I'm like what the hell?

Then, I tell them I'm moving out of the country ...guess what...closed all of my accounts. And the reason was "other".

My second mortgage is with them and they refuse to do anything for me. I sent them a hardship letter in March... was ignored. I spoke with the head dude over there at one point and he got all nasty with me and was like what on earth possessed you to move to another country... I'm like its none of your business?? And he gave me that you signed the loan papers suck it up and take responsibility for your loan obligations... I'm like its not my fault I haven't had any income and got laid off.

Absolutely no sympathy or compassion or assitance. The only thing they did for me last year was raise my 10 year second mortgage loan to a 15 year with no penalties or anything.

I think credit unions should be .....well.... I'll think of a good insult soon.
