Secondary Account Holder on CareCredit card

Not sure if this goes here, but maybe someone can help.
Like an idiot, a few years ago (about 3) I helped my brother to get a CareCredit card because he needed a lot of dental work. I'm not sure of the exact amount, but probably close to $5000 ended up being charged. And then he quickly stopped making payments.
I've been making the payments, but now that I realized we can't really even pay our own bills and bk is looking likely, I'm wondering what's the point of continuing to make payments. Is there one?
The balance is $1900 and the interest is something like 23%. I assume they will go after him first, right? He already has other judgments against him - so that's a lost cause as far as collecting anything. Can they just skip over him and start harassing me? They don't have my phone number at least.

Sounds like you both jointly signed up for this card. If that is the case, make sure to add the debt to your BK petition too.

The cc companies go after one or both of the joint card holders (that is what the term jointly or severally means in your terms and conditions). The collections dept goes after anyone they can for the payment. Since you are filing BK, you can discharge this debt and the company will not be able to legally collect from you.

      Thank you.
I was making the payments all these years because I was so worried about it hurting my credit, but now...it just seems like a waste of money.

Yes, this is definately a waste of money for you! Stop paying it - it sounds like your bother just left it in your hands anyway. Time to worry about your own situation first.
