Can't find any information on financial aid exemption?

Every time I search for financial aid exemption all I get is people asking if they can discharge their student loans, thats not what I want.

    Short summary:

I am an unemployed full time student and have recently been filed against on one of my old credit cards. I currently have just over $20k in credit cards and have decided that bankruptcy may be my only out because if I lose this judgment my bank account will most likely be attached and they will drain all of my student loan money that is intended for school.

My question is this: I have been unable to find out whether student financial aid is exempt in bankruptcy proceedings, I have somewhere around $4000 in my bank account that is supposed to be used for tuition, books, living expenses, etc. This was loaned via federal financial aid, it is not private.

I live in Kansas and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge? I have looked over my state exemptions and it does not state anything about financial aid, but I thought maybe something in federal would protect it (not sure if each state has to follow federal bankruptcy exemptions?)

Other than my bank account I have very little for assets, I believe my books and computer will be exempt and any other tools I need to use to practice my trade.

Thanks for any help, sorry about the long post.

Take the money out of the bank if you are worried about your account being attached and drained! Buy a firesafe and keep your $ there, or pre-pay your rent, utilities, tuition, other living expenses this money is for.
    Filed CH 13 September 17, 2007
Plan Modified July 8, 2009 from $1100/month to $400/month due to change in income, finally discharged in July of 2013!

My court date isn't until April 21st so I will pull at least a livable amount out before then so I am not left with nothing.

Will it be looked down upon by the bankruptcy court if I use the money to pre-pay rent? I am waiting on my chapter 7 bankruptcy book to study this stuff before I actually do anything. Thanks for your response.
