    Couple of questions

In 2002 when I was 19 I was paying my CC bills on time then came a phone bill where I found out unlimited nights and weekends weren't really unlimited and had to shell out 540 bucks. That made me end up missing a few other of my payments. Then it made me sick how fast my debt piled up with the late charges and other fees they tacked on. Then adding that to my other problem I got the bright idea I was going to max out my other cards then pop a bunch of pills so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Thankfully that failed but then I had bills from the mental health center for two separate two week stays.
From then on I just did my best to avoid the agencies, moved a lot, won't even get a phone for fear of them finding out the number. Now I'm in school and doing much better but only have a part time job that I make less than 200 a month. I pay rent and have a roommate. Just recently I've been getting the summons to go to court for the debts. It's probably 30,000 now but started around 10,000.
A few questions, I'm in Indiana
do you think I would be able to file chapter 7?

my roommate has nice stuff, they aren't going to see that and try to take their tv and things away since we are both on the lease and its in the apartment?

I haven't been keeping up with what I owe who. I plan on getting this information in order in the coming month but need to know how. Do I just need to get credit reports for that?

It will be awhile before I can file since it would take me forever at my current job to come up with attorney fees. I planned on next semester getting a student loan and use that to file for my bankruptcy. I could handle making the payment to that and what I didn't use from it I was going to pay back immediately. Is this possible for me to do? I know i can't file against it, I plan on paying it back.

I am so glad that your planned sucide failed and you are doing better.

You should have no problem filing a chapter 7 bankruptcy from what you told us and your roomate should not be effected in any way.

It sounds like your case is simple enough that you could go pro-se without a lawyer if you are willing to do all the work and educate yourself. Most people do use a lawyer and if you can come up with the money is deffinately the way to go. However, it sounds like you have no assets and that most of your debt is years old. A simple, no assets case with a filer who is well below the state median is really the best type of case to do pro-se.

Our pro-se advocates will hop on here later and give you more information.

JollyGG is right about your roomate's belongings. You would be filing, not your roomate.

      Discharged - 02/16/2006

Ok thanks. He was afraid about trying to have to find reciepts to prove they were his and such.
