Once we finally get to the point of filing, I will be so happy I will probably tell anyone that ask, and half the people who don't.

Sure, it sucks not being able to pay all the bills.
But a lot of this was out of our hands.
I am making the correct financial decision for me and my family.
Something that will move us forward and hopefully better our life.
What is there to be ashamed of in doing that?

Ditto. I was humiliated at first, but now I couldn't be happier. It's a business decision and anyone who wants to judge me can walk a mile in my shoes.

I was scared at the thought of my name being in the paper too. I was more worried about that, than filing bk at the time. We didn't tell my parents and they would of freaked if they found out. It has been three years and they still don't know.

I got lucky and found out that our local paper didn't print that, I was so relieved.

(((hugs))) to those that are going through this.

do they really put notice of bankruptcy for everyone in every state in the newspaper? I have never seen this before. I'm in Georgia, but I have never seen anything like that before.

Filing BK is a matter of Public Record. In lots of cities, BK filings are posted in the local newspaper.

If you live in a big city, there's probably a "Metro Section" or something similar. Where they list fire runs, arrests, and such. All in small print.

Your BK filing won't be listed in every newspaper in the country. Just the paper that's local to the Court where you filed. And that's only if the paper publishes them.

Our newspaper here prints BK filings for the week every Sunday. In an off section. In small print.
          Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
          Discharged - 12/2006
Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
          Closed - 04/2007
