I would agree with the rest and talk to another lawyer. Also remember you do have some control over your payment. When you do all of your expenses you can put in what you spend and it should spit out a payment you can handle. Your lawyer works for you and thus needs to follow your wishes. Stand your ground and make the system work for you.

    Good luck, God bless

But IF you could qualify for a 7 by simply waiting 6 months -- that would be MUCH better than making payments for the next 3-5 years.

Well, it's official. My husband doesn't have a good feeling about our signing up for ch 13 either. He called our lawyer and scheduled an appt next week so that the lawyer will answer the questions we have before (if) we decide to file with him.
I've left messages with 2 other law firms to come in for consultations. I've always made quick decisions on things like our mortgage, & cars. It put us at a disadvantage, but I've definitely learned that I should not feel pressured into what someone else tells me is right. I have to feel that it is right.
Seeing as my house and car won't likely be taken away since we are somewhat current on them- I won't worry about taking a little more time to file.
Thank you all for your input. It's really given me the confidence to make the right choice, not the easy choice.
