    Open-Public-Records.Com - I'm devastated

So I'm 2 years into my Chapter 13, plugging along. Life is going okay. I just randomly Googled my name the other day and low and behold my Chapter 13 filing pops up in open-public-records.com first search return for my name on Google. With date on bottom of January 2016, even though we filed in 2014, but this website looks to be new and activated in 2016 Looks to be a new website, and unfortunately I have a unique name and also includes my husbands name. Granted the person would need to log-in to PACER to see documents, but right there in black and white. It says Bankruptcy and my district. I realize BK is public, but to see that just sunk my heart. Nobody knows we filed. I'm applying for a new job and who wouldn't Google an applicants name and now low and behold my BK record front and center. I realize I need to own it, and I have but having the world see access to that too, is a bit personal for me. Just wondering if anyone else have had same issue?

Unfortunately, it is what it is. It is public record. I have had to deal with Zillow posting our home as being in pre-foreclosure for years. We went through our bankruptcy and got a loan mod but the LP was not removed until our attorney finally got it reversed. I then had to contact Zillow and tell them that this was no longer the case. To their credit, they removed the offending title immediately. Hey, it is all uncomfortable to be held out in public this way but it was the right business decision to make. Time will erase all. Hang in there. things happen, people lose jobs, get sick and one has to deal with it as best one can. /No one will care later on. Don't apologize. More people have filed BK than you can imagine.

The key is to get over the shame of BK. You had financial difficulties and took advantage of the laws designed to deal with them. You made a good personal busines decision that enables you to be a better participant in the economy. If people judge you for filing BK, who needs them? Employers doing background checks are trying to avoid hiring crooks. The fact that you dealt with your financial problems in a legal manner, and will successfully complete a Chap 13 plan, is evidence that you are not likely to steal from your employer when things get rough.
      LadyInTheRed is in the black!
Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

I hear you. you always feel like people are judging you once they know you filed. like every purchase you make and every decision can be judged as "didn't you file bankruptcy??" I agree with LadyinRed.. The key is getting over the shame. We had to do what we had to do- to get to a better place. And take some pride that you have figured out a way to repay what you owe and move forward!
