I think I get it all, including a generous wildcard which yes can be used to exempt cash (verified with attorney.)
But there's this one...
The debtor's interest in household furnishings, household goods, wearing apparel, appliances, books, animals, crops, or musical instruments, that are held primarily for the personal, family, or household use of the debtor or a dependent of the debtor (value is of any particular item) $550
(this is from the 4/2010 revision)
1. As I read this, books, which I have a lot of, are exempt as long as an individual book isn't worth $550. Or is it a total of $550 of books?
2. More generally, I'd love to see any references on just what is an "appliance"? Stereo, TV, DVD.
Anyone have experience with these? I couldn't find a thread on this so I thought I'd start one.
