    Does anyone send mail anymore?

Just watched a woman on the news who is bombarded with collection letters because her identity was stolen (they caught the woman on tape using bad checks printed with her info.) She was complaining about how she dreaded the mailbox.

All I could think is how I would love to get something in writing instead of a truckload of hangup calls from anonymized numbers. I got maybe three letters from the companies reminding me of payment.

The further it gets away from the original creditor the less collection letters they send out.

Junk debt buyers usually only send out one letter. Collection agencies will often only send out one letter.

They prefer to call you on the phone because that's how they get paid.
    The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.

I've gotten 8 from my attorney's office in the last couple of days...

I think GoingDown is on the right track. When I was only a few weeks/months past due I got several letters each day from my various accounts. Now I get only 1-2 a week about bills. The rest is all junk mail.

I got one from each of the three cards. That is it. Today I got a text warning me of interruption of service to my BoA cards...like the 27.99 percent raise in interest and slashing of the limit wasn't? I got a call claiming "we contacted you on the 2nd...and never finished the conversation". This is a bald faced lie. I told them that if they had an offer of payment plan, they can put it in writing where I can see it in print. I said I would not pay until then.

        I have received nada.

I got a letter in a blue envelope like a birthday card and what looked like handwritten address. In side was the BOA you owe me letter. pretty slick

My wife and i inspected the "handwritten" area and could not feel anything. I think it was computer generated.

Ah yes, just before charge off on some of my credit cards, I got pastel colored (baby blue) envelops with my address hand-written on the envelop from the creditors, saying this was my last chance to avoid legal action and to voluntarily pay the bills. That was years ago. Nothing happened from them so far, except that they sold off the accounts to junk debt buyers, which haven't done anything of any consequence either.

I take it that you have not filed?

Me? I don't have any reason to file yet. I'm as judgment proof as possible and I have nothing to lose and nothing to worry about from judgments. No assets, no wages to garnish, no checking account, etc. So far only one creditor has filed a lawsuit, and they never got a penny of that judgment, and even they have stopped calling me or writing to me about it, and it is now beyond the Arizona statute of limitations for judgments (5 years). So it is now as worthless as the paper it was printed on.

The rest of my creditors are beyond or almost beyond the Arizona statute of limitations to file a lawsuit, so they are almost all worthless debts at this point.

I just sat back and waited them out.

If I had something to lose, I would have filed chapter 7 BK.

But this way, I didn't have to spend any money on BK, and I still have it as an option at any time I might need it in the future. No waiting period.

Got my first CA letter. Guess GE Money is stepping up the pressure. They want the entire balance. It is to be sent to GE still. Looks like the balance jumped about 800 bucks since December. I know they were charging 50 bucks late fees.

Time for my first DV. They ain't gettin' s###.
