Cease and Desist Letter Question

Quick Question - can I write a cease and desist letter to the original creditor? I'm behind several months on my Discover card and Chase card and to my disgust, have already contacted my parents. Its making me sick as I really don't want my financial dirty laundry aired. What are my options? I'm filing for BK in 3 weeks and don't want them to continue to harrass my family.

No, the o.c. is not bound by the F.D.C.P.A. laws, however you might have a state law that protects you concerning debt collection, where do you live?

If you are filing in 3 weeks, I would just say try to live with it, if you hired an attorney you should refer their phone calls to him/her.

I know what you mean about being disgusted by their tactics, they did the same thing to me, and tried to act like they were lawyers too.
