Question's before my 341 re: tax's and bank statments

First thanks for all such great posts/forum.

I filed ch7/no asset back in Aug 2011. My 341 is this Monday. I have been reading about providing tax statements and bank statements. I have not been notified by the court to do this? BTW I filed pro se... a paralegal did all my paperwork.

While this forum makes the 341 meetings sound like a breeze. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something since I'm not being represented by an attorney.

    Thanks in advance

Hello and best wishes to you!!!

I just finalized my paperwork for Ch 7 today (filed tomorrow fingers crossed) at any rate in my district four of the 5 trustees want ONLY statement that shows bank balance(s) from DAY BEFORE filing through DAY AFTER filing. The fifth one (and I "KNOW" I'll get him...wants the month of filing...which of course will show mcdonalds' etc...Paralegal said "you're allowed to live." Well spouse sick, and i worked 3 nights/week.

Anyway - answer to YOUR question - I believe you are SUPPOSED to have filed your 2010 tax return by this time of year (even with extension) so if you haven't, file it before your 341 and UNLESS you get something in the mail from Trustee as to what to bring, take a copy with you. If you don't need it, so be it!

Re bank statement - again unless you get something in the mail from Trustee, I'd bring a printout that shows the month of filing, and a separate one that just shows day of filing or maybe day before thru day of WITH the balances....and if you're asked for it, you'll have it...if not, again, so be it!!!

Your lawyer said nothing about this?
The rule seems to vary about how many bank statements are required, from only the most recent to 2 years worth (we were told the latter by a current tt/atty). But 2 or 3 years worth of tax returns seem to be pretty much universal. Dig em up so you'll be prepared.

Keepsmiling is right re tax return - often atty will submit to trustee beforehand so you don't actually have to bring it.

Re statements - you needed TWO YEARS??? Good God!

I am guessing that this is because we are self employed. Yeah, kinda freaked me out too, since we closed an account a year ago and wouldn't have access to those statements anymore, and they can ask big bucks to print them out.

We haven't filed yet. I am saving all statements from new bank and should wind up with close to 2 years worth by the time we get around to it. No rush here. No money to file, no health insurance for dh, not being pushed yet, we'll get there eventually. Got GV so life goes on in a relatively normal fashion.

Great on the tax returns, did you ask about bank statements? I provided six months of bank statements per attorney, informed later that the trustee never looked at one of them.....I was amazed!!! Since your are pro se, make sure to have six months with you just in case since you won't want any delays.

Good luck and post on how it went.

Huge variation from one tt to another on this, apparently.
