I'm waiting to hear if I've been discharged. The deadline for creditor objections was 8/22, which was 11 days ago, and I've heard nothing. I'd like to check PACER to see if I can find out anything. I am worried because they ask for a debit/credit card in order to register. I am afraid to give them my debit card info becaues I don't understand how their charges work. I want to do a simple search for updates in my case; how much will that cost me? I saw something on the PACER site about how even if you search and they don't find anything, they still charge... they charge per page even if you don't download all the pages... etc. I am confused! All i want to know is if I've been discharged or had any objections. Can I register and search my case without being charged a ton of money right away? I have no idea how many "pages" there are. Help?

So long as you spend less than $10 in a 3 month period, you will never be billed. Additionally, you only need to retrieve your case (by case number) and that's free. It will show you the "initial screen" which will, at the top, list your case status. You are looking for the text "debtor discharged" near the top.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

Grapes11, do not worry about anyone at PACER having or keeping your credit information. You will get a quarterly statement in the mail showing the amount you should pay. But if you don't click and start reading all kinds of pages, you won't get charged.
The only thing you are interested in is in the Index where there is an item with a number next to it suggesting that you have been Discharged and the Closed. These will usually only be three ir four pages at the most, and as the charge for viewing each page is $.08, you have plenty of leeway.
The problem with this is that people get addicted to PACER and run into problems with that. 'Hub used to open up each new entry and download it to our computer so we can go back and review the documents at any time, and that cost us money at the time. Now we get quarterly statements saying that we are in good standing and we owe 0 on the account.
Now, another member got so addicted to checking PACER for every case even remotely resembling hers, that she racked up a pre-filing debt of more than $300. And she was able to successfully get it discharged in her BK.
Just be careful. Also read all the stickies about PACER. Look at the later ones first. Rules have changed a bit and we know that some older information is no longer valid. Thanks, and take care!"To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

Angelina - my first PACER bill was $131 :-) So to the OP - just control yourself :-) Of course this is a 13 case so there is more "stuff" going on.

I believe that I've paid over $400 in PACER fees since 2008. Most of that was from being a Pro Se Chapter 13 debtor. The rest of it was pure stupidity -- like searching for all cases in which a certain prominent Florida attorney was the attorney of record! On that one, I learned that the multi-page PACER billing limit doesn't apply to searches!Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

I was finally able to log in to PACER this morning (couldn't get in last night for awhile after registering) and... it says Date Closed 8/31/2011, Disposition Standard Discharge 8/29/2011. This is what I want, right?? I mean it looks good but after all these months I'm still waiting for something to go wrong. I think I can relax now? Thanks so much everyone for the advice on PACER... i am so glad I checked (but I'm also glad i didn't sign up a week ago, or I'd have run up quite a bill by now lol)

Congratulations on your DISCHARGE! Congratulations on your case closing as well!
You are done, done, done! There is nothing else to do. You should expect to receive the "discharge" paperwork in the mail. It's nothing special and is usually less than 3 pages (1 page for the discharge and 1 or more pages for the list of creditors that were notified -- the matrix). The Bankruptcy Noticing Center usually mails things on Saturday, so you should be seeing that paperwork next week sometime.
However, you are DONE!Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
