During 10 consecutive years of absence, could I be properly served?

"but you would also need to prove you weren't properly served with notice of the original lawsuit"

If I leave the country without giving anybody my new address and then upon return I tell the court that I wasn't properly served, then would this be enough proof?

Or should I keep receipts of everything I do in the foreign land so that I could prove to the court I wasn't in the USA at the exact day they sent me the notice (in the USA address (which I abandoned)?

That won't work to be honest with you. They really only have to make an attempt to serve you at your last known address and then service by publication. To show improper service you have to show that the credit card company knew, or should have known, where you were to serve you but didn't.

Frankly, purposly evading your creditors is borderline fraud. Your much better off dealing with this upfront than running away.

What is the meaning of "properly served"?

I know I need to be upfront. But I after collecting all the facts and understanding normal procedures CC use, then it will boil down to choosing between BK and SOL this way. It also boils down to my value system (i.e., being comfortable with myself in choosing a course of action).

But CC companies, lawyers, and the whole system are against ignorance. So it's critical to collect the facts. For example, it is important to know what's the meaning of being properly served? For that purpose, do I have to tell the all CC companies every time I change my permanent residence?
