    Kid's bikes?

Are the kid's huffy bikes an asset?

    #2
    Sure. They're probably worth $5.00 - $10.00 each.

I had to google 'huffy bikes' to see what we are talking about. I would say frogger's assessment is probably about right. Once the kids get through banging the bikes around and leaving them out in the rain, etc. You are not listing 'new' prices for anything you own.

Everything you have is 'old' and 'used'. Nor do you have any 'antiques' or 'designer' items. Price everything as though you were having a yard sale. Since this is a Saturday, take a drive around your neighborhood and visit a few, and get an idea of what things similar to yours are being priced at.

As to the bicycle, I picked one up once that had been left at the dump. There was nothing wrong with it except obvious wear, some rust, and the tires needed air. I cleaned and oiled it a bit, put air in the tires, and sold it for $10.00 at a yard sale.

I was amazed when I looked up some of my things on Amazon just how little they were selling for. I listed everything anyway that I felt had any value and will let my attorney or one of his assistants figure out what to take out. I'm not taking any chances of 'hiding' assets. But, you will probably also be surprised when you start googleing or looking at Amazon or Craig's list just how little things are selling for.

The only thing I couldn't find was info on some lithograph pictures I have. But, I figured if the artist name didn't come up on any of the websites I checked, they're probably not worth much (they are to me - I love them) so I listed them at $10 apiece. Just took a middle number of pictures that resembled them. The others were going for 4.95 - 25.00 so I figured 10 was about right as they were 25 each (4 of them) 26 years ago. They probably are worth less but did the best I could.

It's amazing how much some people think their things are worth until they want to sell them. A couple of years ago, they were worth more, but in today's economy, you're lucky to get a few pennys on the dollar.

My few "priceless" possessions that I have ain't worth sheet....

I'll bet they are to you though. I was thrilled when I found Currier and Ives plates at a garage sale years ago. Also some Saturday Evening Post mugs and Norman Rockwell cups. I didn't pay much for them but still, looking them up on Amazon and ebay, I'd be lucky to get $15 for the lot. That's good though because I love them and didn't really want to lose them. And now I seriosly doubt if a trustee wants those 'priceless' articles of mine. So I will get to keep them and enjoy them for years to come.
