    Paying for DS17's expenses pre-filing?

Hope to be filing in a month or so... meanwhile have DS's senior expenses including pics, grad fees, prom, college apps, AND a youth group convention which HE is running that is going to be around $800.

DH insists these are "contemporaneous expenses" and therefore no issue, but I am doubtful. Am I "allowed" to pay for these (non-essential (?)) things or do I need to have DS use his little bit of savings and get a money order?

I'm there too, we are supposed to get the cap and gown paid for in Dec., but uh, really don't have it. My son said he wouldn't go to graduation. I did get his pictures atleast.

So are these considered luxury items?
We have a little bit of savings we will need to use up anyway....

I would tell him to get his own job if he wants these things or use up the savings (his savings) because they are non essential. I mean, if you wanted to, you could always pay him back sometime after your BK is closed.

He really needs to understand that you are in a financial bind and can only pay for expenses that the Trustee will see as necessary, which are regular living expenses. I understand they are sentimental things, but, the Trustee is not going to care for sentimental purchases totaling $800.
I may be smarter than an attorney, but I'm not one. No legal advice here, people.
