A few days ago we were discharged. I was wondering how long after the discharge should I begin that tedious task of clearing up my credit report? I have a few things being reported that just don't make any sense. One being an account that was closed almost 10 years ago and one that has not been reporting due to a "dispute". I never had a dispute with this company (universal card from Citi) and also my second mortgage is still saying what our balance is. All of this was included in our petition. Should I be looking into all 3 agencies or just using the one I have a subscription to? Currently I subscribe to Experian. Any thoughts?

Ultimately you'll need to check each, and dispute for any inaccuracies. The companies are not related, but are actually competitors. They don't share info. (Each wants you to buy their own product.) Its up to you when to start.Get mortgage modified: DONE! 7 months of back interest payments amortized, payment reduced over $200/mo
(In the 'planning' stage, to file ch. 13 if/when we have to.)

Credit reports
Hi Ann,
Clean up the big three. You never know which one a lender will pull and often they pull a combined report.
Use letters, be persistent, ask them to verify items you want gone, keep writing, did I mention be persistent? All BK items should have a zero balance and if they have a negative notation (closed, charged off, etc) tell them to remove it and put IIB or included in BK.
Keep after them,
