Are tollway fines bankruptable? I keep getting notices from the local toll road that I owe them some exhorbitant fee. I talked to their CSR and told them not to send me notices while I'm in an active BK7 (and that it's illegal.) They told me that I can't discharge it so tough you know what.

I'm not sure... from what I've read it looks like I may have to pay the original tolls, but not any additional fines. Either way they should not be sending me collection notices, right?

I also included a parking ticket in my BK7. I hope that will be the same situation where I will just owe the original amount.

The question isn't straight forward. It really depends on how your state treats these fines. In general, these types of debts are NOT dischargeable in chapter 7 (under 523(a)(7)).

However, the toll evasion fines might be dischargeable in a chapter 13.
