9.9% after the 0% rate expires in feb 2011. I should have the card in the mail with in 10 days. TRUST me i learned my lesson with DEBT! I'm living off cash and have cut my budget so I can continue to. However, I thought it would be a nice thing to have. WHEN the card is used I will pay it off with their online bill pay. I'm not looking at using this card to finance things like furniture, electronics, etc. I live with in my means now. NOW, if i win the lotto, that's a different story Heck I would bail all of you out9/22/2009 - officially filed chapter 7
11/03/2009 - scheduled 341 - COMPLETED

Unlike others, I think you should keep the card. It surely sounds as if you learned many lessons through your BK process. You don't have to fear credit. You simply need to use it wisely. Provided ridiculous fees don't surface, credit card use can be simple especially when you understand the significance of budgeting/living within your means and you recognize the difference between want and need. You now have a tool to rebuild your credit score while simultaneously affirming your confidence in financial management. Congrats!*Filed: September 23, 2009 *341: November 4, 2009 *Discharged: January 4, 2010 *Closed: January 20, 2010

The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

It sends chills up my back to own a card right now. I "get it" as to how it snowballed too. But, I need to step back and slowly move forward or not with cc debt. The cc companies are shrewd or most of us here would not have had cc debt to discharge along with other debt in the first place. I'd best not play with fire at this time. And, I chose to keep my home and cars so I don't see a need for ccards for me. Good luck though!(first 341 10/14/09, cont'd 341 10/23/09) (12/14/09 last day to object) (341 Shows HELD w/tt report of no distribution 1/9/2010)

I really think it's a case-by-case basis. I think it boils down to this: Do you "need" a high credit score in the future (3 years or so down the road?). Sadly, the main (only?) way to re-build credit is to "use credit". Of course, you may be able to raise your FICO score but without using credit again, it will probably just nudge slightly higher.
Another issue is things like auto insurance. Most insurance factor our credit scores into their premiums. I would think you need worry if you plan to keep your keep insurance. However, I think if you need to obtain some form of insurance, your credit score will be a factor in them either denying you or even charging a higher premium. I really hate the system.
So far, I'm just riding one CC with a $300 limit. I could care less for the limit and interest rate. I'm mainly using it so the creditor can post that I'm making online, monthly payments to all 3 CRAs.Retained Lawyer: 04/2009 Filed: 09/2009 341 Meeting: 10/2009 Discharged: 12/2009 Asset: 05/2010 made asset Closed: 07/2013 after 47 long months

Yes, I agree to what you just said. And, I worried myself sick that the auto/home insurance would rise on us after discharge. Our insurance company did their semi annual renewal report, and our score went down, but our premiums did not. In the next 6 months, we will be improving even more by continuing to pay on the reaff's without cc debt for quite some time into the future. We are going to do our best to NOT sign on to cc debt again if we can help it.(first 341 10/14/09, cont'd 341 10/23/09) (12/14/09 last day to object) (341 Shows HELD w/tt report of no distribution 1/9/2010)

aaahhh the 0% fishing line. For most of us on this board.. that's how it starts. It all seems so innocent at first.
I have a mantra: file once and learn your lesson. If you don't change your habits for life you'll be a lifer filer. It's like a drug addict... just a bit for so and so reason...
ps. I wouldn't even give those scumbags $39. They will never get a CENT out of me again.
Shred it... believe me I have not used a single credit card for 12 months now and we get along fine. We have plenty of food, my bills get paid by writing checks, I have gas in my car and clothes to wear and we eat out on occasion. Hell.. we even went to Disneyland ON CASH and ATM Card. I've even managed to save $6000.
You can do it. Credit SUCKS. We NEVER want to be back in the Bk place again.Stopped paying c. cards February 2009

Case went without a hitch! I HELD MY HEAD HIGH IN THAT COURTROOM AND NOW I AM MOVING ON!

CcsAreEvil, I don't need a good credit score for the next 5 yrs. or more. I really tend to
agree that it is definitely a case by case though. But, then again, calgirl67 hits it on the money for most of us with cc histories. They are evil, as you state even in your ID here, so why get too close to the fire ever again..............only to show back here one more time. It is not worth the risk. Let them raise insurances...........I will have money to pay for it until the premiums do come down anyways. SHRED SHRED THE
PLASTIC to all who seriously mean it to get a lasting new start...............(first 341 10/14/09, cont'd 341 10/23/09) (12/14/09 last day to object) (341 Shows HELD w/tt report of no distribution 1/9/2010)

My FICO score is 613. My Capital One card has a $300 limit 0% interest till Jan 2011 and is ONLY used to re-build my credit. I have two charges put on it a month. My internet and Netflix. I pay it off at the end of every month. I NEVER carry the card in my wallet. I refuse to use a cc for everyday purchases again. That's what got me into trouble in the first place. If I see something I want or need I use my own money. And it feel great!Stopped paying CC...April 2009
