I am planning to file within a month or so, just trying to get together some money for the attorney. I am still paying most of my cards, but now I am going to stop so I can pay the attorney fees.
I had a free consultation and forgot to ask a few questions. I am filing myself, not with my spouse since most of the credit cards are in my name & before we got married. The lawyer said that is fine, just anything that we cosigned together he is still responsible for. My question is I am on unemployment I am ASSUMING I can use that money to pay utilities, food, etc (plus the bills that are in BOTH of our names, since I don't want to ruin his credit)? Should I stop my husbands direct deposit into my account (it's only my name on it) and have him get his own or should he just cash his check? I have a mortgage & utilities bills I have to pay so how does that work? I also have a leased car which I plan on keeping, do I still continue to pay that, how does that work?
