    how to choose an attorney

I met with a paralegal from one BK attorney and that is all they do is BK,s,
They were at $299 fileing fee Plus $1300 for dong the BK work with a list of substantial added charges if deemed necessary.
Then I met with a local attorney who does BK and other legal work too.
He is local and spent an hour with me directly. He charges $299 filing fee plus $2000. He has no added charges on his schedule. So I tend to lean toward using him because he spent the time to get to know me and my case and he had no extra charges. Who would you use for your BK cases? the first paralegal ( they have 4 0f them) said they do about 50 to 80 BK,s a month. Also Fear of this whole process is clouding my judgement.

I would go with one that does NOT have the al a carte menu. These are the attorneys that end up getting paid more than double what you originally thought you were spending on an attorney. You want the attorney to show up at the 341 - More money. You want them to take creditor calls - more money. When finding a bankruptcy attorney, you want someone who is going to be there start to finish without "extra" charges. One up front fee to represent you until your case is closed.

One more thing, go with who you feel most comfortable with.

My attorney has the so called "al a carte" menu. I chose him because I don't want to pay for services that I don't need. Do you have a straight forward case? If your case is complicated then I'd lean toward the attorney with the flat rate with no extra charges.

        For example...

My attorney would charge extra if I wanted to redeem my vehicle and he needed to be at an additional court hearing. Why would I want to pay for that service if I am not redeeming a vehicle?
