Car question

Yeah true, if I got sued they would have nothing to take. I just don't want to go into a marriage with this baggage. After I am done with bk I plan on doing things a lot differently, well I am already doing things differently now. Everything will be on a cash basis only. I am looking for a job now but it is awfully hard.

B55, your concerns were all about the vehicle and your BF. Now, you are concerned about getting sued by the cc companies. Please just tell us what is your situation so someone here may offer some assistance.

Those are both my concerns. Someone just asked why I was doing it now as opposed to waiting till I was a bit more stable in things. The CC's and getting sued are a part of why I am doing it now.

So what if you get sued? You have nothing for anyone to take.

Which is an excellent point. Any judgements could be added to a later BK.

Given the "speed bump" in filing in November, you have all the more reason to wait.

Well wont it still be an issue with the car even if I wait? We only did this about 2 months ago. And like I said I want to get this taken care of before I get married, which is next year.

The look back for property transfer is two years. At that point no more "speed bump".

He knows exactly what I am doing, he is the one 'gifting' the money to me to pay for the atty.

The worse case scenario, is that the trustee will ask your boyfriend to pay back some of the money that you gave him.

I am hoping that does not have to happen. My atty seems pretty confident that I can use his car as exempt and that there really shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks everyone for opening my eyes up a bit more on this. I worry so much about everything. This bk thing has taken over my life right now. Ever since I met with the atty last week all I have been doing is reading up on everything I can think of. I have played out so many different situations in my head. I am not even finished filling out my paperwork and I am extremely stressed out. My attorneys paralegal has been extremely helpful answering any questions I have, so have you all. I just want so badly to put this all behind me. I can not wait to be done.
