    question about 2nd bk counseling

How difficult is the test? I have the book I got in the mail but I'd prefer not to read the whole thing! Is it easy to pass the test? Thanks!!

Hey Veggirl, why not go online. It is a fun course and is $35. We are in FL and we took the course together (no extra cost) and got our certificate upon the very simple test at the end.

It is about two hours online and was VERY worth while. 'Hub PM me and I can send you the name, you must check that it is honored in your district.
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Mine wasn't a test. Just a long counseling session with a few quizzes. Ours was completely online and very easy and painless.

My wife and I couldn't do this counseling session together, we each had to complete our own.

        We used greenpathbk.com

I used Hummingbird. It cost $19.

You watch two hours worth of videos online -- broken up into 5 or 6 different sections.

You need to write down the code words given in each section to show you watched them all. (Hint: There's an audible notification before the word appears on the screen, so you don't have to be paying 100% attention.)

Then there's a short multiple choice test. The answers are very straightforward and should be obvious if you watched the video -- but supposedly you will get your certificate no matter the answers you put on the multiple choice test, as long as you get the code words right.

Other than the fact that it requires two hours of time, there's nothing to be concerned about. It's not something you need to study for, nor can you "fail" it.

Both certificate fees were included in the Attorney fee for me.

The second course was quite longwinded with a handful of recap question and answers at the end of each chapter. As you may have guessed, the final quiz consisted of those recap Q and A's.

The one thing I got from these 'courses' is it's clear these debt management outfits
had some well paid lobbyists around when the new BK laws were written.

                We did ours through InCharge

We were able to do it together, it was kind of a cheesy presentation, but also kind of fun. It had little word-match games during each section so you were able to practice for the quiz at the end, which was super easy.

                $25 for both of us.

We got our certificates by Email the next day.

No matter which provider you use to take your post-filing required debtor education course, be absolutely certain that the course you take is approved by your state. You can find that out here - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm

Go to the Approved Providers by State drop-down field and pick your state. If you filed with a lawyer, he/she will likely have suggestions for which providers to use as well.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

                  06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
                  06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
                  07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
                  09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
                  08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

                  10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

This is an excellent point. To clarify further: the courses are not approved by state, but by district. So if you use the link above, make sure that when you click on your state you then determine by district what is approved.

yes, i did check to make sure they were approved for my district. mine didnt have an actual test either, just some quizes, and if you missed a question you had to reread that section.
