Well, it came and went....here is our story:
We arrived at the US Trustee's office 1/2 hour before our hearing time and noticed that we were the last in the 1:30PM group. There was this BIG NOTICE posted on the door alerting a party that was scheduled for that afternoon that their meeting WAS NOT going to be in the Meeting of Creditors Office, but they were to report to the U.S. Trustee's Office upstairs for their meeting Oh god I thought, glad it was not us, as I smelled trouble for them.
Anyway, there were 2 other couples ahead of us in the waiting room, inside I see the Trustee working his computer getting ready for the next group. 1st couple go in, out within 5 minutes, they left with smiles on their faces...then my attorney arrives and we talk about a few things, tells me what to expect and informs me that we got the Trustee he wanted.
Couple # 2 goes in and we take a seat inside to get a sense of what to expect and I'am listening. The trustee had the basic questions for them and sort of made a face when they were asked if they had filed a BK before and they answered yes 8 years ago. A few more questions, trustee asked if there were any creditors present, nobody spoke up and he released them.
Sweat now at my brow...he calls our case, we go to the table sit down and present our DL and SS cards on the table. We raise our right hands and swear in. All the usual questions asked, tax returns, property, cars we owned outright and asked how I came to the value of the cars (NADA Valulation) and our home (local compares). Gave us back our bank statements, wage stubs, and tax returns. Asked if there were any creditors present, nobody stepsup to the plate and he let's us go
Went into the hall, asked my attorney how it went, he said great and that was it!
Now in the 60 day club
$254K in unsecured debt
Able to keep cars
Able to keep home
Thank you for all your support and advise...you are all great!
