    For Pete's sake!

Chase has called 11 times today!!!!!! There is a message, I don't want to listen to it. The fact that they pushed us to this point with taking the minimum payment x 2.5 makes me want to pick up the phone and rip them a new one....but I keep reminding myself that the poor schmuck making the phone call didn't make the decision...but I am about to give them a piece of my mind.

You Go needachance! LOL! I'm sure what you tell them, even if it's not nice, they've probably heard it before. Just try not to give them to much information or let them pressure you into a payment or getting your bank information.

    Good Luck!

I noticed you do have an attorney by another thread, have you paid him? If so, ask him if he will field you collection calls. Give them his name and number. He can respond for you. Also, not sure what chapter you are filing, but we gave that info also, which our attorney confirmed when they called.

Yeah, we already paid the attorney. We have given the name to other companies but when my son is schooling we don't answer the phone and that is when the calls came in. LOL.

Chase raised my payment the same (to 5%) and my phone has been ringing off the hook. I hooked the phone up to the fax machine...LOL! I would think they would get tired of the screeching in their ears, huh?

Well, hopefully they will stop calling soon, for both of us!!!

            Need and NoMore,

What happened to you, and many others, I think, is an indication of much worse to come.

For each of you there are probably tens of thousands who have NOT posted here. Likely more.

The CC companies and others have plugged the numbers in their algorhythms and are (they think) making a sound business decision to marshall the forces, circle the wagons and so on. I think it is an attempt to collect as much for their individual companies as possible before the much larger crash. However, they are doing this, IMHO, based on flawed models that maybe applied a few years ago. I do not believe the economy of this year has an equivalent in modern history. I think we are in uncharted territory.

These companies have committed suicide, in many cases, and have no idea that their own actions will be their end.

Welcome to you, and good luck in your journey.

Chase did the same thing to us. We had a rate of 3.99% until paid. They raised the payment to 5% PLUS a $10. per month service charge although we had never been late. The other option was a bump to 7.99% until 2011, then no limit after that. We also had a card with Citibank that was 2.99% until paid. Never missed a payment or was a day late. Then (this is what they count on) I forgot to click SUBMIT when I was making the payment online and realized it the next day. Too late! They raised the interest rate to 16.9%. I called and asked for a manager and even tried to fax proof that I tried to make the payment. Didn't matter. The banks do not care about their customers, only making as big a profit as possible.

I had 2 CCs raise the rates on me to 30% and higher with a variable, this after never missing a payment at all. It was everything I could do to make $1000 to $1200 a month just to 2 accounts and that was the minimum payments being made, I was paying around $800 a month just in interest and then having to sue 2 other cards for every day needs while just going deeper and deeper in the hole...

I finally woke up and said I cant do this anymore, so I am filing for chapter 7, hopefully by October.

I was pushed into this, I would have rather kept paying but they made it so I could not.

I have kept a miticulous excel sheet prior to defaulting listing who is owed what, min due/paid/apr etc... So I finished with my last creditor for Aug 09 tonight. The mins due just to get current is like $24.5k I was laughing cuz I would so love to tell the collectos that. But I wont. They'll get the picture. But it is funny...sorta.

Still not understand why people would put this torture on themselves with www.google.com/voice being available. Change your number and give out the new Google voice phone to everyone and NEVER give out your new, real phone #.

If somebody keeps harassing me too much, I simply log in and either click "BLOCK" or "ROUTE TO VOICE MAIL". END OF STORY. Simple.

I don't like having stress in my life and somebody ragging on me 11x in one day would make me blow a blood vessel in my forehead.

When your phone # is disconnected, have the phone # give out the # to your new Google Voice #. Google Voice will be your new "Firewall" or "Butler" for all incoming calls. It's free, so use it NOW!

Once your mark all of the bad #'s and send them all to voice mail, then they will just keep hounding you on that voice mail and not bother you at work. My friend did this and it worked like a charm. He kept thanking me over and over for hooking him up with that Google Voice thing.

                      Google voice mail

I wish I had known about this!!! I just unplugged the phones and let everything go to voice mail and then returned the calls that were not creditors. I bet I had 20 calls per day!

Well, NOW YOU DO! It's WAAAAAY easier to check the voice mails from the web page rather than having to listen to each one. Plus Google Voice makes a cool TRANSCRIPT so you can READ the test of the voice mail before listening!! It makes going through voice mails SUPER FAST!!

I'm telling all of you, GET AN ACCOUNT NOW while it's still free. Then you can freely give that number to anyone. And if anyone ever decides to become a pest, you simply log in and block their number and it will spoof a fake-disconnect. It's a truly AWESOME service. I love this service.

Yes, the current VoIP service I have allows me to do something simliar. I was doing what you were doing, but got tired of doing it as it was keeping my wife from sleeping during the day (she works 3rds). Finally I whitelisted all the number we wanted to reach us (not many) then set up DND(Do Not Disturb), those on the whitelist got to go pass while DND went to VM.

I have Google Voice now too, and think it's very cool, I liked the fact I could pick my own number.

I think I'm gonna do something along those lines as well.

Only I'm gonna take it one step further.

You can create groups and assign those contacts to groups. Well you can set a custom outgoing VM message to a group.

So you can take those nasty collectors, group them as say collectors, then record a custom VM greeting.

" Hello this is _____________ as of this time this debt has been or is about to be included in bankruptcy. For further information please contact Attorney ________ at ____________ for more information. Also your company can go jump off a cliff. Have a nice day!"

                          lol
