No shoving down your throat. I listed a valid reason for disputing your ad hominem postings. It's not personal for me but it appears to be personal for you.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

Now it is the ad hominem accusations. Very nice, especially when you are losing a debate that you started and Dont tell me that your comment about me being a broken record wasn't a personal attack of which isn't your first. Yes you are shoving your fresh start opinion down my throat. Not everyone gets a fresh start. At least I can be honest.

Guess what! There are both pros and cons post BK whether you like it or not.

I am not post BK yet, but I can tell you what I worry about.

I was the "good credit" person in my family. I've cosigned a lease for my sister, setup her utilities, cosigned a loan that was paid off.....I was always that guy to go to.

Now things are different, and I'm not. Also, I've never driven a really old/bad car as an adult. I am not snotty and I didn't have supernice cars. I was just always paranoid about something majorly going wrong with a vehicle and me getting left stranded....or the brakes not working. I was in a really bad accident when I was 15 (part of the reason for BK) and I'm a little car OCD. I'm working on it, but that is an issue.

I hope to be able to buy/finance a newer car within 6 months after BK discharge. After that, I hope to really start taking a chunk out of my student loans. I would love to say "I owe nothing!".

I don't care about the stigma that goes along with BK. When someone who makes tons more money than myself thinks I am trash for filing BK....I just don't care.

ok, i am not a moderator but if i were i'd use my powers to make sure that neither bandit nor ohiofiler continues their non-discussion. we know exactly where each of you stands.

seems right now that bandit was the last to say something. so, ohiofiler, please be the bigger man and don't respond. i know you can do it!!

I would like to chime in with a comment about life post-bk. My husband and I should be filing in a few weeks but one of the things I am really pleased about our attorney is that she does not encourage filing unless the bk will help you. My sis went to see our attorney because she is having major financial difficulties. Our attorney told her that bk is not in her best interest right now because post-bk she will not be in a better position finacially. She told my sis that if she gets sued to come and see her but not to file until she can get a better job to support herself and her kids post-bk.

I am no expert but maybe the reason some struggle more than others post-bk is that their situation is so bad financially, even a bk is not all that helpful. Just a thought.

I am quite used to coming here and being insulted by people, especially the extreme republican biased. What you are saying is, you wish you could silence people for having a difference of opinion if you had the power to do so, because in your opinion it is a non discussion. (?)

I am actually more interested in your own and other peoples pros and cons post BK, that is with honesty of heart.

This is honesty. This is an attorney who isn't going to use the fresh start speech just to make a buck when they all know good and well it is not in everyones best interest. Not to mention those who get a lousy attorney who really screw up their entire case, leaving them with years of problems down the road.
It sounds like you got a good one and I do hope things work out much better for you when the case is discharged and you are set free of the burden that is too big to carry.

These are legit worries post BK.

I am not concerned about the stigma either though I can fully agree that some people would view that as a con and I would not argue that. What you have mentioned here are things that most of us face post BK. I was also in a very painful accident that led to my BK and I never saw it coming, so I know that end of it very well. I was also the good credit guy but now I am the bad credit guy, Facing the music. People really do need to move the cards they have left into the best position they can prior to filing because it will take some time for a lot of people to get back on both feet and running again.
Fortunatley I came out of BK owing nothing. All of my debt was medical bills. I hope this BK helps you get your school loans paid off so that you can say you owe nothing.

Yes, ad hominem. Look it up. I never claimed to be winning or losing any debate. I'm not here for wins and losses. I can tell you my comment was not a personal attack because I have that right and knowledge, however, you also have the right to let it effect you as a personal attack even though you do not have the knowledge that it was an attack. How you interpret things written on these posts is not my problem. It's your problem. "Shoving down your throat" is a physical activity of which I am incapable of doing both from a geographic and moral standpoint.

Everyone gets a fresh start out of bankruptcy. That is the intent and outcome of the law. It may not be the fresh start you dream of but it is a fresh start nonetheless. Anytime you are able to put a significant problem behind you without concern that it will continue is a fresh start in my book. Just because there are some new challenges to deal with post-bk doesn't mean it's not a fresh start. Some of us enjoy dealing with the challenges life hands us and don't live in a world filled with constant doom and gloom. For those who choose to live life that way I feels sorry.

The ultimate CON is telling people they don't get a fresh start.

Done with this thread. You have a great weekend Sparky.

OK Folks: This thread has gone out of control and is aiding nobody. The OP who started the question deserves better than a spitting war. This is a Forum of help, encouragement, and even sometimes love. The examples we set here, are viewed by many more lurkers than posters.

I hope this question is asked again as it was a very good question. However, I'm locking this thread.
