Auto Finance after discharge- who does it?

So (fingers crossed), we are hoping for our discharge at the end of July. Shortly after discharge, we know that DW's car will be picked up, and I will have to buy something else. I would prefer not to finance, but I have to get something safe/big enough to transport 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 large dogs on road trips, so at least a 4-runner type vehicle.

Has anyone had luck financing right after discharge recently? I could always do buy-here pay-here, but would rather get something that reports to credit if I have to finance... I will put down some, but cant pay 100% cash for something that fits our needs

    Thanks!

You may check out the other forums here. There's one called buying a car after BK. I found it today and it's some interesting reading.

We went down to our local Ford dealer and they had several people who would have financed us, BUT, we discharged them through our bankruptcy so they said no. We ended up with a place called Reliable Credit, very high interest rate, but after 6 months to a year with good payment they said we could either refiance with someone else or trade it in on something else if we decide we want something different. The more money you put down the better financing. We put down $500 and our trade was worth $700. Roadloans.com would have financed us but they wanted $2,000 down and we had to finance between $6,000 to $8,000 with them at 16.99%.
