Gas ans toll expenses.. can they cap hwo much I claim?

I searched everywhere for a new FT job (because we weren't making it). Even with a FT job, we are in the negatives. Anyway, we are trying to relocate closer but it's been hard to find a place with our credit and upcoming bankruptcy. Anyway, I have to drive HOURS each day on routes that have tolls. Until we can move closer, I am spending $550+ just a month on gas and about 50 on tolls. I know the standard is no where near that number nor does it include how much my husband spends on getting to school and doing errands around town. We are looking more at about 650 a month in gas and 60 in tolls after all is said and done. I have proof of this because I'm driving close to 130 miles to work each way. Do they cap that at all? I mean that is extreme but it is a fact of life right now- depending on our 341 date, we should have moved by then and gas would have been cut by at least half.

Your job must pay you very well for you to commute 130 miles one way. I commute 60 miles one way daily and would not do it unless I was making good money. When the gas was over $4.00 per gallon, with my daily commute and my husbands (about 30 miles one way), we were forking out $600 plus a month just on gas for two vehicles so I understand. We avoided a major toll daily as most commuters do unless they have an incentive given for commuting (i.e., tolls cut in half if over 30 pass throughs per month). During that time we cut out frills, took lunch, etc., to compensate for the extra gas costs - it affected everyone and many still suffer with it approaching $3.00 per gallon. Jobs are scarce so I know you are keeping it either for the pay or benefits - you really need to locate closer to your job if you cannot find another. As long as you can prove your mileage and tolls (i.e., receipts, paystubs showing your work address [where you work], showing dates, etc. you should have no issue in providing this information. However, if your expenses drop as to your commute if you do get another job closer or decide to move closer to your present job, you will need to advise your attorney as your circumstances will change dramatically. As long as you can prove your expenses with receipts and documentation in case you are questioned as to any expense, you should have no problem. However, if your circumstances change just prior to filing or shortly thereafter, notify your attorney. Don't fool with it.
