Update from lawyer on loan from family member

Just met with my lawyer and this is what she told me: That I don't need to list the $5k I informally owe to my father as a debt. She knows I've been making small payments to him for the past two years. She said the trustee is only looking for large payments to one single creditor. She said if there was some way the trustee found out I didn't list it, all we would need to do was amend the paperwork and add it. No big deal.

The bankruptcy would NOT be thrown out (as someone here on the board said). This is in L.A. County, California.

Your lawyer is right. As it is informal and you are making very small payments, what's a family for? But I paid in a big chunk and got my seat handed to me. Family is family. Say no more. 'Hub

What will you say when the trustee ask you under oath if you owe anyone money?
