Odd call from Wells Fargo Auto Finance (WFA)

I paid my attorney in Full on Monday. I also provided them with all my paperwork. I won't be filing until the end of October. However, I just received an odd call from Wells asking if it was for me. They then asked if they could contact me by auto dialer. I said "no" they said ok and hung up. WTH?? I am current on my vehicle payments and I won't have an actual case number until end of October. Anyone else experience anything like this?

I plan to reaffirm both my vehicle financed through Wells since I owe what it is worth.

Don't have the foggiest idea why they would call you since you are current with your payments. Maybe they looked at your credit report showing a lot of negatives, and have a hunch about you defaulting or planning bankruptcy.

I think Magyar's right; it seems that creditors are keeping a very close eye on debtor's credit reports these days. Credit cards have been doing that for a while so that they can hit you with that "universal default" rate hike (or whatever it's called; it's when you're late with, say, a car payment, so your credit card interest rate gets jacked up to 33% even though you were never late on a payment with them). Now that everything is snowballing, and repos are up so dramatically, I bet car loans are being watched in a similar way.

I think they are probably correct, they pulled your credit report and with the economy as it is are a bit jittery.

Maybe you could call Customer Service and check up on this call, make sure it really came from them as well.
