IMNLO (in my non-legal opinion) not too much means a couple hundred or so a piece should be ok- a designer gown for 2k not so much. Necessary expenses could include car repairs/maintenance, a dinner out, paying a bill(s) earlier than normal (lets say rent due on 1st, you pay on 20th, file 25th-from what I understand you couldn't pay 6 months in advance but if you pay bills a couple of days or weeks early I think that flies), a couple of gifts of $50 or so should fly,a very full tank of gas,a get away weekend-again not to Tahiti but to the beach for a couple of hundred(?),in general anything that would not be considered lavish I think flies. Good luck.
