A Part Time Job during BK....???

During all the post, I forgot to ask you guys wether or not it would be a good idea to take a part time job during my bankruptcy proceedings and if this will effect my income since its after I filed?

Periodically, I still check income vs. bills. This is the stuff that can not be discharged and I will have to pay anyway like assumed leased car note, student loan payment, lights, phone, gas, car insurance(why does the trustee need a copy of this), and if I find monies after that for cell phone and cable...then those too. Since I was real close even after BK to the edge of my paycheck(thank god I filed ), I may still need a little extra income and I was going to take a part time job, but thought I would ask you experts instead before taking it...what do you guys think?

They want a copy of your auto insurance to verify you own the car you claim on your schedules.
I'd think it's OK to get a few pt hours as long as it doesn't change your income very much. Old law, you were asked {on the forms} of you anticipated a 10% increase in income in the coming year.
Run the idea by your lawyer.

You're right - when filing Ch 7, extra income from a second job after filing doesn't count into your Means Test calculations.

Most lawyers will recommend waiting to get another job until after your 341 meeting. That way if during the meeting the trustee asks if you've had any change in income since filing, you can answer "no"
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

      06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
      06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
      07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
      09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
      08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

      10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

I got a second job right after we filed (it was around christmas). My lawyer said that it was okay as the second job still would not put us over the median. However, he would have prefered that I wait until after the 341 meeting.
        Filed: 10/26/2006
        Discharged: 03/05/2007
Closed: 5/19/2008 - Asset case due to balance transfer and income tax refund

Reply for Part Time Job....thanks you guys....

As usual, I am so glad that you guys are here. I stressed about getting a part time job and a really good opportunity came up, but for some reason everything went wrong....the interview, the interaction with the police supervisors, the recommendations from friends for the job and just about all that could go wrong...did go wrong.....somewhere in the back of my mind...I kept remembering something my mom used to say "if its too difficult to get done, its probably not meant for you to do anyway".....now I realize why.

I am so glad I did not take it. I am glad you guys are always here with answers to all us pro se filers who have no clue, but are learning a lot just reading, posting, asking questions and receiving the very best answers possible......
