    i did something really dumb

I am four months into my chapter 13. We had a family emergency and I borrowed money from three internet payday loan companies. I thought I would be able to pay these back, but there is no way I will be able to it, unless I miss a plan payment. I'm not sure what to do. Should I close my bank account and try to work out a repayment plan with them, talk to my attorney (very embarrissing), or close my bank acct and ignore them? Has anyone else done something this stupid?

    What was the family emergency?

You need to contact your attorney as soon as possible.
Chapter 7, above median, no asset. Discharged with no UST involvement.

Yes, contact your attorney. Being embarrassed is preferable to risking your case being dismissed because you incurred new debt while in a Chap 13 which in most cases is not allowed without trustee and/or court approval.

Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

Whenever you are in a Chapter 13 and experience a financial hardship, the first call is to your attorney. There are remedies that are available. However, obtaining new credit without permission may be frowned upon. Just come clean, inform your attorney, and see if you can have your Trustee payment put into forbearance or temporarily reduced (and made up later in the Plan).
        Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

Are payday loans legal in your state? I live in PA and had done a payday loan online,it was illegal to lend to me in PA. It was a long time ago but I closed my bank account and never paid after trying to struggle with them. They couldn't put it on my credit report because they were not suppose to lend to me,they were illegal in my state. Indian accent people called me over and over and got quite nasty but that was it. Told me they were coming for me ect....
