I'm ready to cry..... I thought we made our last payment on Jan. 2. After a few days, I email the Trustee's office to find out when they will stop my wage garnishment. They inform me that a claim was coded incorrectly in their system and that we still owe $4,575. This amount was never showing in what we owed, so I never paid attention to it. Found out that it was the balance we owed on a car lease after we turned in a car in 2010. Right away, my husband and I knew that we had paid GMAC directly that amount. We called GMAC immediately, who confirmed that we did not owe them any money and that the claim was probably sent right around the time that we had mailed the check, so it crossed in the mail. GMAC then sent a letter to the Trustee stating that we had fulfilled our obligations and that no one owes them any money for our account. The Trustee says that this is not good enough, GMAC needs to withdraw their claim. GMAC says that they normally don't do this, but they said they would....that was 12 days ago. Nothing's happened. So, our attorney filed a formal objection to that claim yesterday. The Trustee said that there's a certain amount of time that GMAC has to respond to the claim and then there will be a hearing. In 2 weeks, we'll have paid that whole $4,575 to the Trustee. I'm hoping at that point, they will stop garnishing my wages. I just want this to end. We have paid in over $140,000, paying 100% of our debts. I was hoping 2014 would start off great.....it hasn't. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. But, this was probably more of just a vent!

As long as your attorney is on top of this, it should be fine. I might ask my attorney to file a Motion to Vacate Wage Order so that the paycheck deduction stop now! I had an issue where my wage deduction continued for almost 8 weeks after it should have stopped. it was not fun!Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10
