Clarification Needed on Allowed Car payment and operating

So with regards to the available DMI available each month. Please help me understand the following:

1. Allowed car payment amount is $496.00. If my actual car payment is $300.00, what amount is used to calculate DMI?

2. Operating allowance is $216, gas and insurance will eat that up and more. Can you claim more when calculating DMI? I mean that amount won't cover insurance/gas/maintenance.

2. yes as long as you have documentation. I've heard of clever people being able to shift between the 2 categories also, on the theory an older car will need more repairs but costs less.
