Default on chapter 13, but status shows still in negotiations.

In a nutshell... I filed for chapter 13 back in 05', and soon defaulted within the year due to unforseen events. Fast forward 6 years, and recently I was informed by my bank that my credit report shows im still in negotiations and basically this puts a freeze on my credit. I'm a little stumped on what to do. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As with any credit reporting issues, dispute it with the credit reporting agencies. Odds are, the order of dismissal never filtered through the system. So, simply dispute through normal channels with each credit reporting agency.

I don't understand what that means -- how does your credit report show it? Filed, Discharged, Dismissed? Etc -- I have never seen "in negotiations" on a BK -- they must be looking at their own systems or something other than your credit report. See if you can get a copy of what they are looking at. I'm not so sure the bureau's are going to be able to help but tell us what your report shows when you look at it.

Good point, the entry does seem a bit odd. Either it is a df04527 states, or the person is interpreting, or misinterpreting, the entry on your Credit Report.
