    car taxes

I live in Kentucky, and here we have to pay our vehicle taxes by value of the car. I pay my car through chap 13 but my taxes each year is about 350.00 is this or can this be taken away because of the bk. I renew every year on my birthday month and this is killing me. Any information would be great.
    Thanks

Ivy, weren't the yearly taxes part of your budget when you filed the plan? (Part of your automotive budget?) If you start taking $30 a month and tucking it aside in an envelope and don't touch it, you'll have it for your yearly renewal. If things are that tight for you where you are having a difficult time with this expense, perhaps it is time to talk to your attorney and go over your budget and income again. Good luck to you.

I'm not an attorney. My replies are merely suggestions or observations, not legal advice. As always, consult with an attorney before making any decisions.

I live in neighboring West Virginia and also pay yearly property taxes on our vehicles. The personal property tax amount (cars, house, dogs yes dogs, and land) were calculated in our means test and are budgeted into our plan. It should have also been a recurring expense when you filed.
Filed July 2009. Discharged 08/08/2014. Awaiting closing. We made it !!!! Woo-hoo!

Well I'm VA and we have the car property tax as well. If it's any consolation to you, the tax will go down each year as the value of your vehicle will.

That is horrible... not that you necessarily have to pay for your dogs but they rub it in your face that they are just personal property? Where is the compassion in your State LoL?
