Car payment outside of the plan

I have a car payment that is being paid outside of the plan. I was current with this payment up until a few days ago, I am suffering loss of wages from when i was out on dissability and this month is when it affected my pay. I will be back on track by the end of next month to get this months car payment and next monhts paid ontime. the lawyer told me that the car company would have to lift the stay before they could take my car. How long will they go before they put in a request to lift the stay for non payment. I am trying to make small amounts until i get on my feet which should be by mid to late november. But i dont want them to take my car i have lived off of 293 dollar checks all of october due to the BK payment being taken out of my check. Any help would be great.

If you are only a month behind and can catch up in a reasonable amount of time I don't think you have anything to worry about. Most banks will work with you if you call and explain your situation. Most won't take action until you miss three payments. The bank does not want your vehicle. Repo's cost them money and are a big inconvenience for them. They will most likely work with your situation. Any effort made to make your payments or even partial payments show you are sincere and not just another deadbeat customer.
