A few years ago, I had three AT&T accounts open for a few months that I just stopped paying on plain and simple. Before they had a chance to go to collections, I opened a fourth account that I still have open today and it is current. The total debt that I owed on the three previous accounts was about $1500 as of last June when I last checked.
Yesterday, I got a notice stating that they were aware of my chapter 13 and that my so called debt that I owed was now only $119.15 which was my current balance that I owed for this month and have not yet paid.
I just logged into my AT&T account and sure enough my balance is now $0 for this month. The notice that I got yesterday also states that they will continue to provide me AT&T service as long as I continue making my payments on time.
This is really bothering me. I had intentions of making my payment this month and it was supposed to be due on Saturday. When AT&T showed up on my credit report, I thought it was the $1500 that was going to be discharged and not my current account balance. It looks like AT&T removed all my previous debt owed to them some time ago and this is why I feel bad. Yeah, I should be thankful that I have $120 this month that I wouldn't have had but i don't feel good about cheating them out of this money when I am capable of paying it now. I hate that every creditor has to be listed on the BK and I really had no choice about AT&T.
Just had to vent a little.
