Allowed deductions? Condo Assn Dues? Insurance? Communications?

I have another question about the items that are allowable as a deduction on the means test. We have $260/mo condo-association dues. Do we get to deduct this separately, or is it just a part of the standard IRS deduction we get for Local Standard-Housing and Utilities (non-mortgage)?

I guess we have the same question about car insurance - is it already included in the standard deduction for Local Standards - Transportation (Operating) Expenses or can it be listed as a separate deduction, above and beyond what is allowed as a standard deduction.

We have an attorney preparing all the documents, but we really would like to be as educated as possible in the means test so that when we review the attorney's proposed plan we will understand how they arrived at their figures.

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, you deduct it separately. If you own a condo, the monthly cost is probably higher than the local housing allowance, so it won't matter. just take the Taxes, Insurance, and HOA fees together, divide them by 12, then add that number to your monthly mortgage payment. That is your "mortgage" payment for purposes of the Means Test.

Automobile Insurance is included on the Operating Expense. So, you don't get to include it as a separate expense.
