    Question?

I recently printed out my credit report - planning on Chapter 13 here shortly, and I noticed that one of my credit cards had a name as a joint account holder, that was my friend from about 10 yrs ago, she was needing tires no credit so i applied for the card and then she paid me back...only problem is they have her first name correct, but used my last name....So technically this person does not exist, so what do I do when I file bankruptcy...most posts i have seen say that the person will have to sign off of the account as a joint holder, well i'm in a pickle cuz' that person does not exist.

Also, how do these credit card companies get our work numbers, i just received one from Discover and it's pissing me off...i'm going to lose my job if these people don't lay off...I just tell them (pretending its not me) that i can only take a message, and the lady actually said it was a personal matter with "Discover Card" please have her call us. Can they actually do this?

    Hi,
Is this "joint" account still being used? If not, I would call them and close the account. I went through my credit cards and cancelled the ones I had inactivity for years (store accounts, best buy, etc). Also, when you receive calls at work, inform the creditors that you are UNABLE to receive personal calls at work or you job. Period. They should stop once you inform them. It will help if you are picking up the home phone every once in awhile to let the creditors know your situation. If you ignore the home calls, they will call your work, friends and sometimes even neighbors!

Well the credit card is still open, cuz I do use it for major car repairs, tires, etc. So I guess they'll just have to try and go after someone that doesn't exist., I don't know i'm so ready to pull my hair out on all of this.......aarrgggghhh!

LOL!! It's too early to start pulling out your hair! Leave some stress and hair for the BK process, the attorney, etc. ...

I know but it's getting pretty hard not to get frazzled over things, dh isn't much help in lending a hand getting things around, like receipts, etc. And he's not getting harassed at work like I am, he works nights so the receptionist isn't on duty. I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed, i guess.....How do I go about answering the phone at home, when I can't promise them any money. Lawyer told us not to pay our cc's....and he won't send any letters out until money is paid in full on our bankruptcy...So what's a person to do until then?

Really, if you are filing soon, just tell them you are filing - give the creditor the attorney's name and number. Most will stop calling or call less frequently and it will give you a break.

Or, let it go to voice mail. Or look up those threads on fun things to do to collection callers. LOL
