    Help pass S.61

    Hi everyone,
I hope you'll all help get this bill passed. Most of you probably know that S.61 is the Senate version of the Helping Families Save Their Homes bill. It has stalled in the Senate due to heavy lobbying from the banking industry. Right now it looks like the earliest the Senate will get this bill is after the Easter recess, if it all...it hasn't made it out of committee yet. Please, please, please email your Senators and ask them to take quick action on this bill...remind our elected officials who they were elected to serve. If you need help composing the email or need the email address if your Senator, I found a great and easy link of www.nacba.com. It takes all of 3 minutes to get the email sent, and could make a HUGE difference for anyone getting ready to file a Chapter 13 who is behind on mortgage payments.

Here's the direct NACBA (National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys) link to send an email to your Senate representatives - http://www.nacba.org/S61/ . This is a very legitimate organization who deserves kudos for making this available for our use.

I emailed my senators - I want my voice heard. Hope each of you will consider doing the same. You can call your senators as well using the toll-free number provided.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
